Ten Habits to Bring Positive Energy to 2010

PathA new year, a clean slate. Just what some of us need to help kick start our lives in the direction we want. I’m not big on making resolutions, as I struggle keeping them much longer than a month. What I am big on however, is making good things habitual. This year, I hope to incorporate some of the old, as well as some new things into my life. Here is a list of things that I’m looking forward to doing in the new year. I invite you to join me in some, or all, of these activities. Let me know what you think!

Asana Yoga: This is the physical limb of yoga. I have been practicing certain forms of Asana yoga for a while now, and am just developing a lot of the strength and flexibility to dive deeper into the essence. I am going to make it a habit to practice some form of Asana at the beginning of my day. I find stretching early provides energy, plus gives you just the extra kick to help your body feel good the rest of the day.

Meditating: I already meditate often, but I am trying a few new things to help focus my meditations. Recently, I rearranged my room to make it more meditative friendly, and have adjusted my schedule to do the same. After recent mandala research, I have adorned a wall of mine with a mandala I created in order to help bring positive energy to my meditation. My habit here is going to be to meditate every morning before heading to classes and doing other activities.

Creative Writing: I will continue to write for Perszenal, but I will be exploring the art of poetry and other forms of creative writing. While I have written poems in the past, I have never shared much of what I have written. Perhaps this website will be an outlet for this sort of activity. If I can get in the habit of some sort of creative writing once a week, I will be more than pleased.

Explore More Music: My music tastes have expanded greatly the past year. I have grown to enjoy music from a wide variety of cultures and genres, and I know there is so much more music out there. Music is great inspiration and is a great source of energy. With websites like pandora, lastfm, and facebook, it shouldn’t be too hard to get in the habit of exploring new music.

Love, Everyone and Everything: In exploring world religions, consciousness, and simply talking with others, the theme for progression seems to be unconditional love. Love for myself, love for others, and love for everything. I want, no, I need, to get in the habit of looking at everything as One, and everything with love.

Perszenal Time: Perhaps the essence of this website, I am striving to make Perszenal Time a daily habit. Read more here.

Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas: Also known as the three gunas in Indic philosophy, these describe the outer layer of prakriti. The habit here is to eliminate tamas, and replace it with sattva. More simply, tamas are the things in life that aren’t pure, or the things that hold you from attaining Samadhi, or enlightenment. Sattva, consists of the things that are beneficial to this state of consciousness. This can be as simple as replacing soda (tamas) with water (sattva). Google it, see what you find!

Dream Journal: My dreams have become very vivid and noteworthy. With this, I recently started a dream journal to help in a better understanding of them. I hope to continue habitually writing in this journal. Dreams can be a great way to see into the unconscious and can help provide answers to problems in your waking life. At the very least, this is good fun.

Read More: Most of my reading recently has consisted of blog posts, sports scores, and twitter/facebook updates. With this, I’ve lost time I once devoted to books and journals. Because of this, I hope to get back in the habit of reading things on a more scholarly level in 2010.

Be Grateful: I would like to say I am already in the habit of being grateful, but there is always room for improvement. This year, I hope to get in the habit of being grateful for every moment, whether that moment be significantly special or not. For this, I must habitually remain fully present.

i read your post on tiny buddha. it was beautiful. i passed it along to a few of my friends.

  • Great list but also I have found out that the shift in your Awareness say if you are negative and cannot seem to get rid of this, you have to ask yourself is this working for you as it is fooling you by chasing an objective and to let go of that, as you are not an object but start believing in yourself as a positive being that you are as you are a subject..don’t believe me then throw out your arms and what do you see…a giant positive sign correct…Now that you have that in your Awareness as Awareness knows you and sees you as the positive being you are as you are then you feel this force in front of you as this is attraction and the LOA states whatever you are paying attention to you are getting it in return as the Universe is your private genie and gives you negativity and if you are full blown with negativity you are paying attention too much to it as this is your reference in your subcon(subconsciousness)..this is where your belief system starts and Truths as well…as the more you believe in being grateful of all around you and what got you there in the first place then and only then you turned this around, but the trick of it is is staying on that path to the life of positivity…if any negativity does show up it is only temporary and some how you wished it to be so it is in your thoughts of being positive and to stay on that path..I have solved the biggest ZEN riddle in my life back in April 2007..two hands make a sound…what does one hand sound like?…nothing but look at the direction the hand goes in….str8 ahead as two hands are conflict in an objective as one hand moves forward in its own silence and that would be you without conflict….see it?..good, Now go out and enjoy your life to the fullest…when you get good enough with the positive life style you will not need your subconscious life no loonger as Consciousness Now Awakens you, but you must go through te steps of a positive life subjectively to reach the Soul within..enjoy as well(+)
Dom*:)ps the movie the Secret by Rhonda Byrne helped me with this as my personal ZEN opened my Awareness more and more…

  • Wow Dom, thanks for a thorough response.
I agree that it is difficult to escape negativity, even if it is only temporary. I will check out the movie you recommended! Thanks for stopping by and sharing

  • Sure thing Rom..this movie talks about an objective in some people’s Awarenesses as I viewed with subjective results to find Soul within as we attract we and from that the realities we wish to see and be in stem from us being positive with that…just keep in mind that these are temporary scenarios and one must not attach to these things as to be permanent with Soul so you may go on with more great subjective realities, another words carry a blank canvas every move you make even if it is just sitting in calm and stillness..another movie I became very much Aware of in and Enlightening process was The Silent Flute written by Bruce Lee and produced by Sterling Siliphant..very ZEN…and what we are really looking for in life,as to me it is just a matter of following through Now..another great movie is Conversations with God by Neale Donald Walsche…as peopele had enough in tyheir life this voice teaches them about listening within and keeping the monkey mind out…enjoy as well and Happy Thursday also(+)
